The NMP22^® BladderChek^® Test is the only in-office test approved by the FDA as a aid in the diagnosis of bladder cancer. The NMP22^® BladderChek^® Test is a non-invasive assay, performed on a single urine sample, that detects elevated levels of NMP22 protein. The test can be performed in a physician’s office with results delivered during the patient visit, allowing a rapid, accurate and cost-effective means of aiding the detection of bladder cancer in patients at risk when used in conjunction with standard diagnostic procedures.

The NMP22^® Test Kit is a quantitative microplate enzyme immunoassay also designed to detect elevated levels of NMP22 protein. Healthy individuals generally have very small amounts of NMP22 protein in the urine, but levels are often elevated in the urine of patients with bladder cancer, even at early stages of the disease.

Both the NMP22^® BladderChek^® Test and NMP22^® Test Kit are based on Matritech's nuclear matrix protein (NMP) technology. NMPs are the protein framework that organize DNA inside the cell. NMPs change in amount in cancerous cells, making them appropriate markers for a variety of cancers. NMPs are easily obtained in body fluids and can be detected in a minimally invasive manner.
